Halibut Point State Park, at the tip of Cape Ann in Rockport, is a premier winter birdwatching destination. Seabirds that breed in the upper latitudes during the warm months spend their winter off these rocky shores. Birders willing to brave the cold have the opportunity to see and learn about a variety of waterfowl, alcids, and shorebirds, such as Scoters, Purple Sandpipers, Razorbills, and Murres. To get the most out of this field trip, attendance at the Birdwatching 101: What to Know Before You Go class is highly encouraged. Please note: Binoculars are highly recommended, and scopes are encouraged.
