Design the house of your dreams as you learn the basics of architectural design and construction. Explore various architectural styles, floor plans, and interior design concepts. Share ideas and insights as you collaborate with your classmates throughout the design process. Clay Creations: Sculpture and Form
The Ottoson Art Show will be held on April 7th, so the class will now begin on April 14 and end on June 16. Experiment with clay to create a variety of imaginative and useful objects. We will discuss form and function and practice different hand-building techniques (pinching, coiling, and slab building) as well as surface decoration as we build sculptural, functional, and fantastical pieces of art. -
Da Vinci Art Workshop
Create a portfolio of artistic masterpieces in pencil, paint, and clay. Like a true Renaissance artist, you’ll explore how inventive you can be using different media and techniques, including watercolor and acrylic paints, sketching and drawing, clay sculpture—and even cartoons, anime, and manga. -
Drawing Club
Join us for a fun adventure along with other artists your age who share a love for drawing. Together, we will practice drawing your ideas, plus learn some new techniques to broaden your skills. Use art to express who you are. -
Fiber Art Friends
Get an introduction to the vibrant world of fiber arts, where you’ll use many different mediums and age-old techniques to create cute, squishy, and fun friends to take home. Some projects will be inspired by video games, cartoons, and pop culture, while others will be driven by your own creativity. We’ll cover as many fiber arts as time allows, including hand sewing, felting, embroidery, weaving, and pom-pom making. -
Jewelry Makers
Unleash your creativity by making bracelets, necklaces, or other wearable items using both typical and unusual materials. To show you what jewelry can be, we’ll turn to history to see what people from different ages and places like to wear. Whether you decide that your look is bright and bold, or simple and straightforward, you’ll assemble a collection of fantastic fashion items that will dazzle your family and friends. -
Metalsmithing: Silver Jewelry Design
Incorporate personal design touches as you learn or refine fundamental metalsmithing skills in this all-level jewelry-making workshop. Beginning makers will fabricate a textured sterling silver band ring and a sterling silver pendant with a bezel-set stone. Students with prior experience in metalsmithing/jewelry can further develop their skills with sterling silver while fabricating earrings, and making a chain link bracelet. Multiple soldering and finishing techniques will be covered, and individual design is encouraged. Materials included. -
Origami & Beyond
Transform ordinary pieces of paper into beautiful creations. Explore the magical paper arts of origami, quilling, and collage. Learn how to fold ordinary, flat pieces of paper into cute animals, stunning flowers, and other extraordinary objects. We will also draw, cut, and glue paper to craft collage masterpieces, colorful pinwheels, and festive seasonal decorations. -
Printmaking Possibilities
Printmaking is a great way to expand your artmaking skills and creativity by allowing you to experiment with making multiple unique images from the same plate. Use various printmaking methods, including relief printing, multicolored reduction prints, patterned mandalas, and monotypes with found objects, to create one-of-a-kind works of art. Explore the endless creative possibilities that printmaking offers. -
Sewing by Hand & Machine
Make fantastic creations, including bags, pillows, and stuffies, as you learn how to sew both by hand and using a sewing machine. Each week we’ll have “sew” much fun as we alternate between hand and machine stitching. -
Textile Arts
Explore five different textile art techniques with hands-on projects. We’ll start with embroidery and stitching as we turn beautiful fabric into a small hand-stitched pouch. Next, we’ll weave different yarns into a vibrant tapestry and deconstruct woven materials to create a cool wall hanging. Try wet felting to make felt-covered bars of soap and other awesome art pieces. Finally, let your imagination run wild as you wrap, wind, and bind a one-of-a-kind textile sculpture.
