WaitlistClimbing Club: On BelayHigh SchoolClimb to new heights this summer! Challenge yourself on both the outdoor course on Grove Street and the brand-new climbing wall in the AHS gym. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience, get the skills needed to safely belay on a ropes course, including how to fasten your climbing harness, tie a figure 8 knot, and participate in a team belay. High schoolers will also have the opportunity to learn how to solo belay using the PBUS (pull, brake, under, slide) method.SummerFun! 2025

College Application BootcampHigh SchoolPlease note: For AHS students only. All four days are in person. This four-day course is designed for rising seniors who want help managing the many requirements of the college application process and fine-tuning their essay. Work with AHS school counselors Danielle Rakowsky and Kathy Hirsch, along with English teacher Erin McLean to explore topics including: application time management and scheduling, resume-building, essay and supplement writing, interview preparation, and financial aid awareness. We’ll start with simple sugar cookies and progress to flaky pastries and decadent cakes. Learn how to create perfect pie crusts, decorate cookies, make delectable cinnamon rolls, and bake homemade bread. Starting SoonGlass Art Fusing & Mosaics Grades 9-12High SchoolBe amazed by the stunning, functional pieces of art you can make by combining colorful pieces of cut glass. After learning how to work safely, you will design your own unique fused glass tile and a night light using glass pieces, powders, frits (crushed glass), and stringers (spaghetti-like glass threads). Then decorate a trivet and embellish a mirror with a gorgeous glass mosaic. Finish the week by creating two beautiful silver-plated pendant necklaces featuring color-changing iridized and dichroic glass. Please note: Tuition includes a $105 materials fee. This class has now been expanded to include students in grades 7+ 2022 parent: "My child liked making a variety of objects from glass without any accidents.
