Classes for high school students
Soap making is a surprisingly old craft—dating back at least 5,000 years—and it uses only a few simple ingredients. Nowadays, however, many of the products we put on our bodies are hardly simple and many of them are downright harmful. You can step out of the beauty industrial complex by learning how to make your own soaps. Don your safety goggles as we walk through all aspects of making soap. You’ll take home up to 10–15 bars of soap that you made yourself with fully pronounceable ingredients and your choice of essential oils.
Jeff Klein is a gardener, educator, and general jack of all trades. When he's not teaching classes, you can find Jeff running his gardening business, mucking out his urban chicken coop, or out exploring with his wife Rachel and their two kids.
