The Art of Pysanky: Ukrainian Egg Design

Adult Enrichment / Fine Arts & Crafts -
Spring 2024

Intricately-decorated Pysanky eggs, also called Ukrainian Easter eggs, are decorated with traditional folk motifs and designs. Learn how you can transform plain white eggs by using a special pen and melted wax then coloring the eggs with vivid dyes. Repeat the drawing and dyeing process several times to apply the design in layers until your unique, beautiful, hollowed out egg is complete. All materials provided.

Please note: To ensure enough time to craft your egg, all participants must arrive on time.

She was taught by her mother, who was born and raised in the former Czechoslovakia where pysanky eggs were an annual Easter tradition. Hanka is also an avid embroiderer and a member of the American Needlepoint Guild and the New England Lace Guild.
