Classes for high school students
The Plantmobile is coming to Thompson! Let’s dig into soil science to find out exactly which creatures, big and small, call dirt their home. We will use microscopes to get up-close and personal with soil microbes, tinker with land formation, filtration, and erosion in special hands-on labs, and even get to meet the king of the soil—the worm! Through experimentation and observation you will get down and get dirty, while learning a ton of fascinating facts about a world we rarely think about.
Massachusetts Horticultural Society seeks to help people change their lives and communities for the better through growing plants together. MHS disseminates information on horticulture and related sciences through its Library, educational programming, exhibitions and community outreach initiatives. Through these, MHS seeks to engage guests with the importance of plants in their lives and help them to become active growers and gardeners themselves. As America’s first established horticultural society, MHS has been practicing horticulture ‘for the public good’ since 1829.
