Calling all running fanatics! Join us for this high-intensity, challenging, and fun in-person outdoor running program. Our focus will be on endurance, strength, and technique. With the common goal of running a 5K together, we will slowly and safely build our conditioning by sprinkling speed workouts and hill repeat workouts into endurance runs. Sessions will commence with a combination of dynamic stretches and plyometrics, and conclude with stagnant stretches. Along with timed runs around town (bike path, local streets, parks), we will learn pacing, how to strengthen muscles, and why speed days are important to building endurance. Students will be expected to keep a fitness log and do independent runs and exercises on the days we don’t meet. Bring your enthusiasm, energy, and joy for running! PLEASE NOTE: Numbers will be strictly limited. Meets outside Gibbs School. Runners must select either the Monday or Friday session to match their current cohort (remote students may select either). Starting in May, the program will meet Mondays and Fridays and the cohorts will blend. Students must wear masks, dress for the weather, bring a water bottle, and have proper footwear. This program will be held entirely outdoors and cancelled only in the case of extreme weather conditions. Notifications of weather cancellations will be emailed the evening before and made up at the end of term if possible.
