Introduction to Google Sheets

Spring 2025

Learn how to get the most out of Google Sheets, part of the free suite of tools included with a Gmail account. Topics will include everyday uses of spreadsheets, an introduction to the basics, formulas and functions, working with data, viewing and using output, online collaboration, and integrating AI with spreadsheets. If you’re already familiar with Excel, you’ll explore both the similarities and differences between the two. The skills you develop will be applicable to both personal and professional projects.

Kenneth Paynter

Ken Paynter was a 4th grade teacher for 15 years, but as an early adopter of computer technology he transformed into a middle school computer teacher and then into a school network and administrative tech support specialist. He first discovered spreadsheets in their early stages in 1982 and followed their development up into the present, using his knowledge to provide data management support for a variety of small businesses as well as for the schools in which he was working. Ken is also a musician (string bass), a piano tuner/technician, and a father of five and grandfather of four.
