Painting the Landscape in Japanese Ink & Watercolor
Adult Enrichment / Fine Arts & Crafts -
Spring 2025
Create expressive, meditative paintings of nature using Sumi ink and brushes. You’ll learn how to make sumi ink with an ink stick and water, use the brush in creative ways, explore classical Japanese watercolor techniques, try marbling, and more. Draw inspiration from the Japanese Edo Period while painting subjects such as mountains, waterfalls, rocks, trees, birds, and insects, as well as classical plants like the orchid and bamboo, symbols of spring and summer. Beginning and continuing students are welcome.
