Fundamentals of Watercolor Painting

Spring 2025

Explore the flowing and meditative practice of watercolor painting in this introductory class. Learn the fundamentals of paint mixing, color theory, various application techniques, and much more. We’ll study inspirational painters such as Singer Sargent, Hopper, Whistler, and others to learn how to create dynamic and expressive paintings of landscapes, still lifes, and botanical subjects.

Corry Buckwalter

Corry Buckwalter is a visual artist, educator and landscape designer based in Arlington. Her artwork explores ecology, land use, and botanical history. In the studio classroom, Corry nurtures individual student creativity through inclusive and supportive instruction. Her belief that art making is a catalyst for personal growth and community-building has grown from her extensive experience teaching adult learners of all abilities.
