Classes for high school students
Have fun learning about ceramics by working through the process of making stoneware mugs on the pottery wheel. Receive instruction on how to use the wheel to make the mug bodies, create and attach handles, and apply decorative, food-safe glazes. You will have plenty of time to practice your skills and create a few unique mugs or a matching set. This beginner-focused class includes all materials, tools, and firing.
Fern is a studio potter in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She has a background in Materials Engineering and started taking art classes to explore the artist’s way of working with materials. For over 25 years, her love of ceramics continues. Her work is largely functional pottery, primarily on the wheel.
