Classes for high school students
Learn the basics of working with leather. Choose from a selection of vegetable-tanned leather, a sustainable substance that gets more soft and supple and develops a beautiful patina with time. Use simple tools, such as a knife and punch, to create your own handmade accessories. Handcraft a functional 11x13-inch tote bag, the perfect size for all of your essentials. Design, cut, and construct your bag using knives, hand punches, and mallets. Customize it to fit your style using leather stains and various embellishments.
Chrissy Durden is a local accessories & footwear designer and Creative Director at Empty Provisions with 10+ years experience in product design and development. Chrissy is a graduate from Parsons School of Design and launched a line of leather sandals in Spring 2020, selling them online and at select retailers.
