Classes for high school students
A deck of 52 cards, four people, and about ten minutes—that is all you need to enjoy the challenging game of Bridge. Over six weeks, you will learn the basics of Bridge, including modern bidding, card play, and scoring. You will start playing at the first class, which will include guided demonstrations, group discussions, and prepared deals to practice the techniques presented. This hands-on approach is highly interactive and social.
Comprehensive handouts for each lesson are provided during the first session. The textbook “Easybridge!” by Edith McMullin is optional and may be purchased from booksellers or online (Amazon.com or BaronBarclay.com).
Elizabeth Gompels went to her first national tournament two months after learning to play duplicate bridge. She is a Silver Life Master, club director, and accredited teacher through the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL).
