Each week we will read and discuss an act of Much Ado About Nothing, one of Shakespeare’s finest comedies, a play which explores the themes of distrust of marriage and the rapidly changing social norms of the Elizabethan era. Be prepared to choose a part and read aloud. We’ll explore the historical context behind the play, examine how Shakespeare uses humor to critique social expectations, and consider what its witty wordplay and complex characters continue to reveal about gender dynamics today.
