European countries may have had a bit of a head start on cheesemaking (okay, they’ve been making cheese for a few millenia… so what?), but artisans across the US are catching up, keeping pace, and combining distinctly American touches with centuries-old traditions to create innovative and delicious new products. We’ll be showcasing some of our favorite US cheeses, from fresh chevres to farmhouse cheddars, and pairing each one harmoniously with accompaniments. Join us for a tasty and educational deep dive into all things born in the USA! Tuition includes all food fees.
The Formaggio Kitchen family of stores began in 1978 with a vision of creating a European shopping experience in Cambridge. Best known for its cheese, Formaggio staff travel throughout the US and Europe visiting dairies, cheesemakers, and agers of artisan cheese whose products they import so that customers can experience the wonders of these artisan producers. Beyond cheese, they sell wine, beer, charcuterie, produce, olive oil, jams, honey, coffee, tea, spices, chocolate, confections, and a variety of other specialty food items.
Formaggio Kitchen was named one of the Top 10 Most Iconic Cheese Shops in America by Wine Enthusiast and one of the Top 50 Food Stores in the world by the Financial Times.
