Familiar with your sewing machine’s basic functions but nervous about tackling a project on your own? Get a better understanding of the sewing process as you receive step-by-step assistance making a simple piece of clothing. Project possibilities include pajama bottoms, a skirt, top, or dress. We will cover button holes, zippers, pockets, fitting, and types of hemming and finishes, plus see how a serger can add to your sewing experience.
Please note: Bring your sewing machine in good working order, along with your machine’s instruction manual, if you have it.
Jen Flores is a graduate of MassArt with an MS in Art Education. At nine years old she learned to sew from her mother and a family friend, who sewed for LA actresses. She was fortunate to learn some couture tips in the process! Jen uses her skills for both her art and limited clothing designs, which she sells in craft shows and local stores. Her art studio is in the Vernon St. Somerville studios, where she exhibits and sells her work during Open Studio.
