Sharpen your swords and your minds, strap on your adventuring boots, and journey through a fantasy realm full of elves, dwarves, magic, goblins, and (of course) dragons and dungeons. Learn the fundamentals of the classic tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons together with a customized, streamlined version that focuses on fun over rules. Discover how to create and role-play characters, work as a team, and respond to challenges created by the Dungeon Master. Each adult-child pair will begin by playing one character together. Will you complete your quest? Everything needed to play is provided. Ages 8+

Learn the basics of glass fusing by creating your own 8x8-inch decorative tile, which will be kiln-fired at 1400 degrees—a temperature that will allow your design to remain three-dimensional. Each of you will create your own unique composition using a variety of materials, including powders, frit (crushed glass), confetti, copper, stringers (glass threads), and glass ribbons. Landscapes and flowers are popular sources of inspiration, but you’re encouraged to follow your own artistic vision. Your instructor will fire your projects in his kiln and return them within two weeks, beautifully mounted in a white shadow box or frame. Ages 9+

Learn how to make pillowy authentic Italian gnocchi at home during this live and interactive virtual cooking class. We will use a ricotta base to make restaurant-quality gnocchi, including those hallmark ridges to catch the sauce. Join a professional magician for an evening of step-by-step instruction for beginner-level card tricks that you can master with only a modest amount of practice. All you’ll need is a deck of cards to become a hit at any party and amaze even the most cynical of skeptics. No experience is necessary, just the ability to hold a deck of cards. Explore the basics of Japanese indigo shibori, a traditional Japanese resist dye technique that uses a variety of textile manipulation methods to produce different patterns when the fabric is immersed in indigo dye. Experiment with tying, folding, stitching, compressing, and twisting fabric to create your own unique shibori masterpiece. Each participant will design up to six t-shirts. All materials are included. This guided tour is a walk through history, not just of the building but of the Commonwealth itself. Established by an act of the legislature in 1969, the State House Tours Division now guides approximately 90,000 visitors annually through the halls of the state’s capitol building. Experience democracy in action at this landmark full of significance to both our state and our country. Ages 8+

Learn about the properties of a wide variety of beautiful semi-precious stones and crystals. Then pick your favorite and create a wearable pendant or ring; a pendulum to tap into the energetic connection between you, the earth, and the cosmos (or to hypnotize your friends!); or a decorative mini sculpture of your own design. Ages 8+ You are also welcomed to bring small found objects to wrap. Please note depending on the item not all items may be suitable to wrap. We will try our best.
