Explore a seemingly endless supply of fun materials in this “craft-tacular” week. We’ll use yarn, popsicle sticks, beads, and more to make a variety of projects including fluffy pompoms, treasure boxes, marshmallow shooters, and more. Expand your crafting skills with gimp as we experiment with different stitches to make things like bracelets, keychains, and beaded geckos.

Embroidery Patch Party
Design and stitch small embroidery pieces, then turn them into custom patches to personalize fabric items such as tote bags, jean jackets, or pencil pouches. Explore the basics of embroidery, learn new stitches, and create your own embroidered masterpieces.

Glass Art
Be amazed by the stunning, functional pieces of art you can make by combining colorful pieces of cut glass. After learning how to work safely, you will design your own unique fused glass tile and a night light using glass pieces, powders, frits (crushed glass), and stringers (spaghetti-like glass threads). Then decorate a trivet and embellish a mirror with a gorgeous glass mosaic. Finish the week by creating two beautiful silver-plated pendant necklaces featuring color-changing iridized and dichroic glass. Please note: Tuition includes a $105 materials fee. 2022 parent: "My child liked making a variety of objects from glass without any accidents. He also enjoyed being able to use glass cutting tools and glass firing in a safe way."

Mannequin Magic
Inspired by your active imagination and favorite movies, use special effects to transform a sculptural foam mannequin head into your own spooky or spectacular character. Design props and accessories to add dimension and personality. We will use acrylic paint, model magic, and other mixed media to bring our creations to life.

Shoebox Creations
Use your imagination to bring the settings of popular books to life. We will read a new story each day and create a detailed miniature scene in a shoebox inspired by your favorite part. Use a variety of mediums such as clay, paint, markers, and popsicle sticks as your building materials. You’ll also make up your own story and craft a shoebox scene depicting its setting.

Fashion Design Workshop
You and your team will work as fashion stylists and designers to create fabulous outfits using fabrics, paints, and some unconventional materials. We’ll talk about fashion principles such as color and proportion, take a spin through fashion history and trends from the 1920s through today, and use sewing machines to turn our creative visions into fashion reality. We’ll also make coordinating accessories that you can take home.

World of Crafts
Travel the world as we explore the cultures and crafts of people from countries near and far. We’ll discuss geography, history, and traditions as we work on projects including portraits of the ancient Egyptians using melted wax painting, cave painting stories, Mexican relief “tin” folk art, and Japanese fish prints. At the end of the week we’ll pack it all up and take home a trip portfolio.
