Classes for high school students
This one-evening class, led by a state-certified Medicare benefits counseling professional, is designed for those who are new to Medicare, planning for retirement, or caregiving for loved ones who need insurance information. You’ll learn how the four parts of Medicare work together to provide comprehensive health insurance coverage and where, when, and how to enroll in Medicare Parts A and B. We’ll address how much Medicare costs, what benefits are covered, and how to avoid late enrollment penalties. You’ll learn how to use the Medicare Plan Finder tool to find the best supplement plans available. Each student will receive a SHINE kit with detailed information about Medicare and other healthcare plan options available to Massachusetts residents.
Bill Prenovitz is a state-certified SHINE counselor working as a volunteer with Minuteman Senior Services. He is retired after working in healthcare for companies such as Philips Healthcare, CVS Health, and Lifeline.
