Understanding & Acting On Climate Change

Adult Enrichment / Contemporary Issues & History -
Spring 2024

This class is designed for people who are already concerned about climate change and want to learn more. The goal is to help you feel confident and empowered to act, whether it’s talking to others, making lifestyle changes, or supporting systemic change. We’ll cover the basic science, roadblocks, and equity issues, and introduce a powerful simulation tool and a wide range of climate change solutions. Learn how to collaborate with others and join together to take action. Additional details about the curriculum can be found at www.canwestopcc.org.

Tom Rawson

Tom Rawson is a retired middle school science teacher, and a climate educator. He leads climate change courses for adults, and is active in many other ways on issues of climate education and climate justice. His environmental interest began with the first Earth Day in 1970; his interest in climate change grew beginning 12 years ago when he started teaching it to 8th-graders. Before becoming a teacher Tom ran his own software business (in Arlington!). He spends his free time doing carpentry, bicycle riding, hiking, and sailing when he can.
