  • Hiking Club

Get outdoors and enjoy the natural world. Hike local wilderness areas such as the Middlesex Fells Reservation, Walden Pond, and the Western Greenway, led by an experienced guide. Engage your curiosity, seek out adventure, build camaraderie, and increase your stamina on hikes of varying distances and challenges. Gain confidence as you learn how to read trail maps, use a compass, and employ other navigation techniques, as well as read the forest for clues about the non-human life around us. Our club will culminate in an optional full-day hike in the White Mountain National Forest. Transportation from Gibbs/OMS and all necessary equipment will be provided for both the club and the hike. Pickup & Dropoff: Gibbs students should look for the van at 3:00pm. It takes 15 minutes - 20 minutes to get from Gibbs to Ottoson. Ottoson students pickup time will be between 3:15 - 3:20pm. Sturdy walking shoes, a raincoat, and a good backpack are suggested. If supplies are needed for the afterschool hikes, we have them. For the White Mountain Hike, all supplies will be included including snacks, backpacks, hiking poles, and water bottles. We hope all Hiking Club members will come along on the June 2 Full-Day hike. Note: The full-day hike is for Hiking Club students.
  • Ninja Warrior

Jump, hang, climb, and balance as you train to be a ninja warrior. We’ll play games, complete drills, and tackle an obstacle course inspired by the hit TV show. Each class we’ll add additional pieces of equipment to build upon the previous week’s accomplishments and learn new skills. Scale up cargo nets on a truss, walk across balance beams, climb over an A-frame, and hang on monkey bars as you build strength, endurance, and coordination.
