Classes for high school students
Have fun doing creative hands-on experiments that go beyond what you would learn in school. We’ll dabble in chemistry, physics, and engineering. Focus on things that fly by constructing paper helicopters, launching straw rockets, and participating in a paper airplane challenge. Build a marble maze, a spaghetti tower, and more. Do chemistry experiments, explore electricity, and get “attracted” to magnetism, then make a flip book about our experiments to take home and share.
Julie Gallagher has been teaching middle school science for the last 24 years. Her favorite part of teaching science is helping the students explore, create, and learn through hands on experiments.
Liam Mannion is originally from Kilkenny, Ireland and is a University of Limerick alumnus. He is in his fourth year in APS, teaching 7th grade science in the Ottoson. Liam taught in London for a year, and then moved to Boston to work at Harvard Medical School in a cancer research lab. He soon missed teaching, and is glad to be back working with a younger crowd.
