Portrait Photography Workshops
Adult Enrichment / Fine Arts & Crafts -
You don’t have to be a professional to upgrade your photography skills from taking snapshots of yourself and loved ones to more thought-out portraits that capture personality. Get effective tips on taking and editing more striking photographs when you take one or both classes.
Taking the Portrait Using whatever kind of camera you have (mobile devices included), gain essential tips to taking great portraits of individuals or small groups. Topics will include lighting patterns, composition strategies, posing tips, and suggested camera settings. We will draw examples from historical and contemporary portrait photographers. This workshop is a good fit for both students looking to jump into taking portraits for the first time and students who want to upgrade their skills. Wednesday, July 7 | 7:00-9:00 pm | $29
Editing the Portrait Adobe Lightroom offers a powerful suite of tools for editing portraits. In this approachable workshop we will take a portrait from “right out of the camera” to “ready for the limelight.” Starting with basic edits and ramping up to more advanced tools, you will learn a workflow for editing your own images. Topics will include exposure, contrast, color balance and skin tone, masking, and basic retouching. Bring your own portrait or work with one provided. This workshop is appropriate for fairly new Lightroom users or students who want to improve their existing skills. We will focus on the desktop program Adobe Lightroom Classic but you can use the mobile app and the free desktop program that doesn’t have “Classic” in the name, or just watch and learn. Wednesday, July 14 | 7:00-9:00 pm | $29
