West African Hand Drumming

(In Person) Explore djembe, a goblet-shaped drum played with bare hands, in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Learn techniques to make basic drum sounds—bass, tone and slap—to create rhythms integral to West African culture. All levels are welcome, and no experience is necessary. Please note: Drums are available to borrow. Supplies are limited. Please email the ACE office to reserve one. Class meets at Arlington High School.

Dean Fisher
Dean Fisher has worked as a multi-instrumentalist for 27 years. He has been teaching djembe and dunun, which he learned in Arlington and in Conakry, Guinea West Africa, for the past seven years.
