Join a community conversation featuring Robin Schoenthaler, “The-Boston-cancer-doctor-who-writes-about-Covid,” and Dr. Pierre, an infectious disease specialist working on the front lines at Boston Medical Center. Together they will discuss the most up-to-date information on the pandemic, ways to stay healthy and sane in the meantime, and look ahead towards a brighter future.
Dr. Cassandra Pierre is an Assistant Professor at the Boston University School of Medicine, the Medical Director of Public Health Programs and the acting Hospital Epidemiologist at Boston Medical Center. Her focus is on population and public health in communities struggling with racial, economic and social marginalization. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has led Boston Medical Center's multidisciplinary Infection Prevention and PPE response, designed ambulatory and operative re-opening protocols and advised Occupational Health and department leadership on COVID-19 prevention in healthcare workers. Dr. Pierre has also collaborated with local community organizations to develop and implement strategies to reduce COVID-19 infection in communities of color.
Robin Schoenthaler has been a Radiation Oncologist at MGH for the last 28 years. Originally from California, she raised two fantastic young men in Arlington, which she has called home since 1998. She is also a published essayist, avid storyteller including a Boston moth grand slam winner, a student of epidemics, and currently consumed with all things Covid.
