Learn to Knit
Adult Enrichment / Fine Arts & Crafts -
Winter 2023
Note: No class March 10
The craft of knitting is both fun and functional. Whether knitting a hat or working on a special project, learn stitches and techniques that will engage you in the creative process, while having fun and lowering your stress level.
Knit a Hat: For beginning knitters, learn the step-by-step process of knitting a basic bottom-up beanie in the round, with optional pom-pom. You will learn to cast on, knit, purl, join to knit in the round, decrease, and make a pom-pom.
Project Workshop: For knitters who already know the basics and want to advance their knitting skills, get help with a knitting project of your choice and connect with fellow knitters. Choose a project that incorporates techniques such as cables, colorwork, lacework, short rows, and new cast on/cast off, or increasing/decreasing methods. This class is like a “sit and knit,” but with the benefit of an instructor to help you with any issues and learn new skills.

Places to purchase yarn and needles: Playtime in Arlington, Mind’s Eye Yarn in Porter Square, Another Yarn in Burlington, Gather Here in Cambridge.
