Jumpstart Your Vegetable Garden
Adult Enrichment / Home & Garden -
Winter 2023
DATE CHANGE: No class 2/14, final class now 3/14.
Home-grown produce is far superior to what you can buy at the market because it is fresher. However, the thought of starting your own vegetable garden can be daunting. Get an overview of everything you need to know—from figuring out where to put your garden, how to start your own seedlings, and how to care for and maintain common vegetables. The class will also cover common pests and how they can be controlled by companion planting with annual flowers. You will be ready to grow your own garden vegetables this year.

Joe Leghorn
Joe Leghorn is a long time Needham resident, a board member of the Needham Community Farm and an avid gardener. He enjoys sharing what he has learned over his 20 plus years of organically growing flowers and vegetables, including the lessons learned from his mistakes. Growing almost all of his vegetables from seed, Joe will show that it is easier and less expensive than you think, and allows you to grow those hard to find varieties.
