African Cooking Experience: Kati Kati & Fufu

Adult Enrichment / Food & Drink -
Fall 2022

Learn how to cook adventurous and creative African dishes while learning about the continent. First, we’ll prepare chicken with just the right blend of spices to make the distinctive Cameroonian favorite kati kati (African grilled chicken). While it is marinating, we will make a flavorful stew base with sauteed greens, and corn fufu, a doughy African staple made by cooking fine corn flour paste into a thick pudding. You will be entertained by live African music and storytelling while you cook and eat. Your taste buds, soul, and mind will thank you.

Motherland Cultural Connections

Motherland Cultural Connections’ mission is to bridge the cultural gaps that exist between immigrant communities and their communities of residence, through mutually beneficial partnerships and services. Founder Mirabel Umenei created the organization as a platform for immigrants of Afro-heritage, engaging their skills & talents and to provide services that are culturally competent and useful to their communities and its organizations. Through Motherland Cooking Xperience and Motherland House Concerts, they also aim to create a safe space for the community to come together through music, food, education to learn about each other, thereby destroying negative stereotypes that hinder growth in the community.
