Transgender and gender diverse individuals have become increasingly visible in our families and culture in the last decade. In a non-judgmental setting, learn about key concepts and terminology related to transgender identity, gain practical tools for being a supportive ally, and get all of your questions answered by an award-winning speaker, educator, and community leader who will talk candidly about what it means to be transgender. Special considerations for transgender children and adolescents will also be discussed. This program is suitable for ages 14 and up.
Nikk Cochran Selik
Nikk Cochran Selik (he/him) is a consultant and speaker who has been working to promote awareness around transgender identity for over 10 years. A former leader in the Chicago LGBTQ community, Nikk is the founder of one of the largest trans-led organizations in the Midwest, T-MAC: Transmasculine Alliance Chicago. Additionally, he has worked with Northwestern Medicine to develop their Gender Pathways Program, as well as with Lurie Children’s Hospital as a volunteer in their TransMentor Program. In 2018, Nikk received the Windy City Times “30 Under 30” award for outstanding contributions to the Chicago LGBTQ community. He graduated with a BA in Film/Video from Columbia College Chicago. Nikk lives in Medford with his husband where he works at Fenway Health as a Program Coordinator, as well as the leader of their Employee Resource Group for transgender & non binary employees. He is also an active member of the non-profit organization, Mass Bears & Cubs, where he was selected as the 2022 community representative.
